 Metering & Upload Charges

Metering

Metering is the allocation of advance amount (amount deposited for upload charges) by the organisation and debit of file upload charges from the allocated amount. There are three levels at which the organisation can allocate amount for metering (metering models) i.e. at the Organisation level, User level or TAN level.

Organisation - the advance amount can be allocated at the organisation level. The organisation may have multiple users and TANs associated with it. The file upload charges for files uploaded by any user of the organisation for any TAN will be debited from this amount allocated at the organisation level.

User - advance amount can also be allocated at user level. In this model any amount from the total advance amount can be allocated to a user. For example Organisation ABC has five users, viz User 1, User 2, User 3, User 4 and User 5. The total amount available with the organisation is Rs.5,000/-. Each User is allocated Rs.1,000/- each. Each user can have multiple TANs associated with it for which it will upload electronic statements. On upload of electronic statements by the respective users the file upload charges (based on the number of records in the electronic statement file) will be debited from the respective allocated amount of the users.

TAN - similar to allocation of advance amount at user level, amount can also be allocated to a TAN. For example an organisation has 10 authorised TANs associated with it. Amount can be allocated to each of these 10 TANs. On upload of electronic statements for respective TANs the upload charges (based on the number of records in the electronic statement file) will be debited from the respective allocated amount of that TAN.

Note:

  • An organisation can select any one metering model at a time.
  • The metering model can be changed as per convenience.
  • Electronic returns uploaded by a user with insufficient balances will be rejected by the TIN central system.
  • An organisation can also keep balances unallocated.
